The First Step

I have made my first step in going abroad by leaving my home in Berkeley. Yesterday, I caught a ride to LA with family friends returning from a vacation in San Francisco. I spent the earlier part of my weekend saying goodbye to my dear friends in Berkeley, most of whom I won't see again until January and one from whom I will be separated essentially until May. I miss them all already. I had the strangest feeling yesterday as we drove off, realizing it was the last time I would see the Bay Area for five months. It was even stranger to realize that I have no home to go back to in Berkeley, at least until January. All my things (minus a few) are either in my parents' house or on their way through the postal service.

I miss Berkeley so much already. And I am so excited for what comes next.
